Sony HDR-TG1 has a sturdy titanium body with a scratch resistant top hard coating which makes it more durable. This camcorder measures 1.3" x 4.7" x 2.5" and weighs less than 10 ounces, including the battery. It is a portable, 1920 x 1080 high definition camcorder that records video and captures 4 mp still photographs solely to memory stick cards. The Sony HDR-TG1 is the smallest camcorder in the HD market today. Its refined two-color scheme and streamlined body makes it more unique and stylish among other ultra HD camcorders.

One of the best features of this camcorder is its slow motion recording ability, especially since most people are captivated with the hidden details that slow motion video reveals. It can also shoot at 240 frames per second resulting in a more natural looking slow motion.  Photos can be captured with a maximum resolution of 4 megapixels. Moreover, both photos and videos can be simultaneously recorded and saved in the same memory stick cards.

This uniquely designed Sony HDR-TG1 camcorder does not provide microphone and headphone jacks. However, it has an impressive 5.1 channel Dolby digital on-board microphone with zoom function that catches distant sounds. Like other Sony camcorders, HDR-TG1 also has face detection technology and can identify eight faces in any given shot. This technology automatically adjusts the focus, exposure as well as the color of the subject to make it more realistic and natural-looking.

The full HD resolution of HDR-TG1 is achieved by a sensor that measures 1/5 inches. It is an Exmor kind of sensor which uses Bionz image processing that are inherited from other pro camcorders and Sony’s DSLRs for better noise reduction. This camcorder also has auto exposure and auto white balance options that are quick to respond to make nice and smooth transitions. The 10x zoom lens holds an excellent aperture range and the optical image stabilization works perfectly well.
